The Only Enterprise IT Event in 2010
Covering the Entire Scope of the
Cloud Computing Spectrum |
| |
Cloud computing is steadily becoming an integral
part of the enterprise computing environment. |
|

Cloud Expo was announced on February 24, 2007, the day the term "cloud computing" was coined. That same year, the first Cloud Expo took place in New York City with 450 delegates. This coming November 2010, Cloud Expo is returning to Santa Clara with more than 5,000 delegates and over 100 sponsors and exhibitors.
"Cloud" has become synonymous with "computing" and "software" in two short years. Cloud Expo is the new PC Expo, Comdex, and InternetWorld of our decade. By 2012, more than 50,000 delegates per year will participate in Cloud Expo worldwide.
The cloud is certainly a compelling alternative to running all applications within a traditional corporate data center. But moving from theory into practice is where things get complicated, and this is where attending a top industry event like Cloud Expo comes in.
No one can take full advantage of cloud computing without first becoming familiar with the latest issues and trends, which is why the organizing principle of the 7th International Cloud Expo on November 1-4, 2010, is to ensure - through an intensive four-day schedule of keynotes, general and breakout sessions, and our bustling Expo Floor - that attending delegates leave the Santa Clara Convention Center with abundant resources, ideas and examples they can apply immediately to leveraging the Cloud, helping them to maximize performance, minimize cost and improve the scalability of their Enterprise IT endeavors.
Delegates will leave 7th Cloud Expo with dramatically increased understanding of the entire scope of the cloud computing spectrum, from storage to security.
The Santa Clara Convention Center is the only place to be November 1-4, 2010, if you build, sell or purchase applications or infrastructure delivered as a cloud service. End users, IT professionals and vendors alike are all encouraged to participate.
| Whether you're an enterprise or small to medium business, you'll soon be benefiting from the Cloud. Join your peers in Santa Clara November 1-4, and maximize those benefits already in 2010. See you in Santa Clara! |

Articles & Feature Stories By Salvatore Genovese As much as information technology has changed in the last 10 years, the next decade promises even more significant change. And as cloud technology becomes more prevalent, IT enterprises will be driven to reconsider the status quo around just about everything we know, including Physical Infrastructure, Virtualization, Automation, Service Management, and Security.
Cloud technology and virtualization of virtually everything means rethinking the economic models around physical infrastructure, the emergence of a new class of providers as well as a greater degree of standardization around virtualized OS & Middleware configurations. In his general session at Cloud Expo Prague, David Milot, Unisys Managing Partner, discussed what you need to consider to ensure your enterprise’s foray into cloud computing successfully and securely meets the needs of your enterprise, today and tomorrow. Far from reducing provisioning times and improving utilization, many organizations have found that “virtualization sprawl” has reduced the effectiveness of their IT infrastructure teams, and failed to make anticipated cost savings. Furthermore, vendor lock-in has resulted in the artificially high expense of maintaining virtualized environments.
At Cloud Expo Prague, Pete Malcolm, CEO ofAbiquo, discussed how next-generation virtualization management can completely eliminate vendor lock-in, substantially reduce provisioning times, realize utilization goals and ultimately achieve the cost savings promised by the virtualization ideal. In his keynote at Cloud Expo Prague, Pete Malcolm, CEO of Abiquo, discussed where you will learn about the next chapter in the Virtualization story. The widgetry will turn up in Citrix’ OpenCloud infrastructure platform, its tarted-up Xen stack, to help it take on VMware management.
Terms were not disclosed.
Citrix said it would add lifecycle automation so virtual workloads can migrate between production stages with a single mouse click. It’s also promising that the platform will push out into a hybrid environment down the road.
HP will sell CloudStart, which is for compute services, in Asia-Pacific and Japan to start, expecting to go global in December. Sep. 3, 2010 10:18 AM EDT Reads: 288 |

"The world's 50 most influential Cloud bloggers 2010" list will be announced at the Cloud Expo 2010 East, which will take place April 19-21, 2010, at the Jacob Javitz Convention Center, in New York City, with more than 5,000 expected to attend. Reads: 16,010 By Fuat Kircaali I can't comprehend that any event producer anywhere in the world today would answer this question by picking any one of the five available options presented. "A leading tool?" What do you mean by "a leading tool?" What other tools would you possibly have in this day and age? This question, the survey itself and its participants belong to the last decade.
I personally don't use email anymore; I communicate through "Twitter."
We don't do press releases unless we have to; we tweet stories to our roughly 12,000 followers in 8 channels. The news gets amplified to hundreds of thousands instantly.
Even during Cloud Expo, we reach more people by Twitter than the announcements we make through loudspeakers in the convention centers.
I would love to contact the people who are conducting this survey and ask them if any company answered their first question as "don't really consider it."
In an age where I personally hail a cab at an airport through Twitter, I can't possibly comprehend which century bubble those people might be living in. Reads: 3,848 Further cementing its position as The Largest Cloud Computing Event in the World, the organizers of the 7th Cloud Expo, being held at the Santa Clara Convention Center, Santa Clara, CA, announced today that the event will also feature – on November 2nd, 2010 – a CloudCamp unconference.
CloudCamp @ Cloud Expo is aimed at anyone working with, or interested in working with, cloud technologies.
"With the rapid change occurring in the industry, we need a place where we can meet to share our experiences, challenges and solutions," said CloudCamp co-founder Dave Nielsen, who will personally be facilitating the process on site at the Jacob Javits. "At CloudCamp," Nielsen continued, "participants will be encouraged to share their thoughts in several open discussions, as we strive for the advancement of Cloud Computing." By Kevin Hartig Cloud computing is becoming one of the next industry buzz words. It joins the ranks of terms including: grid computing, utility computing, virtualization, clustering, etc.
Cloud computing overlaps some of the concepts of distributed, grid and utility computing, however it does have its own meaning if contextually used correctly. The conceptual overlap is partly due to technology changes, usages and implementations over the years.
Trends in usage of the terms from Google searches shows Cloud Computing is a relatively new term introduced in the past year. There has also been a decline in general interest of Grid, Utility and Distributed computing.
Likely they will be around in usage for quit a while to come. But Cloud computing has become the new buzz word driven largely by marketing and service offerings from big corporate players like Google, IBM and Amazon. The World's Most Influential Blogs By Elad Israeli The traditional business intelligence ecosystem is built on the numerous strategic partnerships that exist between BI software vendors, which provide the technology, and value added resellers (VARs), which provide customized solutions based on that technology.
As in all partnerships, both sides need to have something significant to gain for their partnership to be successful. In the business intelligence industry, this has indeed been the case for a long time. The software vendors use their cha...
